Per Barry, he said he sang the song to Robin when Robin was in a coma. He [Barry] wasn't sure if Robin could hear Barry singing. I hope Robin couldn't hear him.
Nothing like a farewell dirge!

Some thoughts on some of Kilburn Towers thoughts:

This appeared to often be Barry's preference in the later years of the Bee Gees, while R&M possibly resisting and preferring to keep things more simple and catchy.

And probably the weakest songs on those 3 albums. Agree?

I may be going out on a limb he, but could the song be about Amy Winehouse?

Maybe a little too sweet. And I have three young daughters.
Kilburn Towers
One last thing, has anyone noticed the similarity in the title "In The Now" and Robin's song on 50 SCD "All We Have s Now". Also similar philosophy in Robin's song running through Barry's mind apparently, if not actually in the title track.

Funny how different opinions can be. I enjoy "side B" more. I find it less
predictable than "side A" which of course not necessarely is a quality. But
I really like all the songs here.
What I enjoy the most by The Bee Gees is Barrys voice and phrasing. Both
the falsetto and the natural voice. On the new album my fave number is The
Meaning Of The Word which IMO shows Barry voice in a shape that I did
believe he could come up with anymore. I find the phrasing beautiful and
I love his balancing between full tenor and breathy style.
On the whole album it's only Blowing A Fuse that I don't really care for. I
think it's very courageous of Barry to search these new directions at his
age. I guess the easiest thing for him would be to write simple and catchy
songs
