That Robin didn't get a major label for Magnet is unfortunately confirmation of its little commercial appeal. I doubt if many expected that album to sound like that. I also think that Robin couldn't get a decent deal for 50SCD and not wanting to upset Barry was just an excuse. He does sound in good voice throughout but there are too many weak songs on their that Barry and Robert wouldn't have accepted Julian Back to top

If it had been released when it should have been released, it would probably had been pared down to 11 or 12 songs with the weaker o Sal Salvatore Compoccia compoccia@aol.com Back to top

Either way I could never understand why they do this with both music and movies. It only fuels piracy. Mo had witnessed the fate of his hapless twin when he walked away, and as we know, Robin's decision to leave was a hanging offense. Mo was involved in outside projects but they probably didn't result in the success that he may have wanted, or at least not commercial succ As far as Mo's rehabilitation in the early 80s influencing the decision to ditch the band doesn't make sense to me. I'm not sure how long Mo stayed sober after his first stint in rehab, but I gather he was up to the task of working with Robin, and Barry. apparently so was Alan. Mo had said himself he liked playing keys better than bass, but I do wonder how much freedom he had in what he played. If Mo had decided to walk away I certainly could not blame him. Having to deal with both Barry and Robin, it's wonder he didn't hang out in opium dens. I was talking more in the context of the frustration he may have felt, and again particularly during those difficult Living Eyes sessions, where it may hav crossed his mind in a moment of exasperation. Of course, actually leaving the group would have been a much more difficult and complicated affair. Moreover, I don't think Maurice would have ever wanted to. He said the song he dedicates to Robin is very emotional and he has never to sing it live. He thinks it would be terribly difficult or even impossible to do so. He also says there is a lot of imagery in this album. Also it represents him at this time in his life. It should be very interesting.
