I am not talking about Barry's interview, but about John Merchant's May interview where he indicated Robin was reluctant to sing lead in and after the late '80s. Barry s= ang more, but there was a balance of sorts on those later albums. So, I'm s= till not to sure what Merchant was trying to say. Barry wanted Robin to sin= g lead more than he did? Perhaps Merchant was referring to albums like Hig= h Civ and Still Waters? Two of the later albums where Robin does less lead = vocals? I tend to doubt thatt, though and at any rate Barry was referring t= o the Fever period in those interviews, long before Merchant came to Middle= Ear. And that is really the only period where Robin didn't sing lead, or v= ery little or should say. I keep going back to the Meyer interview about the upcoming biography, with= Meyer asserting that Barry didn't let Robin sing lead (presumably the Feve= r period). He seemed almost animated when talking about the issue, which wi= ll very likely be included in the book. Once again, could Barry be aware of= it and is making the assertion that it was Robin who chose not to sing lea= d? Could the Merchant interview be a clumsily coordinated effort with Barry= to spin this potentially negative revalation? I'm probably too far afield on this one, but the timing is a little peculia= r.
