Just my opinion, I REALLY have no idea. But when they got to the part where Barry and Linda was at Skaggs house at some point studying the Bible, I was like, ok now it sounds trying to make it appear that they are closer than perhaps they really are, or are "using" an association. I realize that Barry did sing at the Opry, and Skaggs did appear to be very gracious to Barry. I also understand that Barry is on Ricky Skaggs new album... It kinda "feels" like a good opportunity for some good promotion by the Skaggs camp. Again, I have no idea, and an NOT trying to be negative, but going to someone's house to study the bible... But to get to that point in a relationship, you almost have to be dating right??? :) Date: Mon, 1 Oct 2012 15:39:10 -0700 From: Joy Rothke <jrothke@gmail.com> Subject: Re: In the beginning..... I have said this on the list before... I had a friend say to me a long time ago that Barry could have done so much more if he was a solo artist... While, looking at Barry's solo sales, and the collaborative successes of the Brothers together, I don't know if that would have been true. But I do know that he would have been able to get all the credit for what HE would have done, instead of having to "share" the spotlight, with perhaps his brothers. For example, it has been questioned how much Maurice was available on Spirits. It has also widely known that Barry was not happy with the fact that he could not mention the 'Grammy' he won with Streisand. Part of me really thinks that Barry was sooooo over the Bee Gees and working with any of his brothers, and that working with Robin again would never have happened. At least with his children, he could satisfy the musical need, and be in control. Again, just a thought... I thought it was funny when Barry's son said that him singing falsetto "was never going to happen"... Very funny... I thought it was also interesting to see how uncomfortable it appeared at times when Barry's son was asked how it was like working with his father. He said it was great, etc, but it was interesting to see how he 'felt' like a newbie at times. Barry was also funny when his son stated that he did not know his dad was a rock star, then Barry jumped in and said that he did not know either!!! But quite frustrating when he said that every brother he lost was when they were not getting a long...
