On their return they had about =A3200, probably a substantial amount in those days but not enough when you don't know if you will make it somewhere else. They had the balls, I'd give 'em that, but it was probably luck too. It could have taken a lot longer than three weeks to get a contract and where would that have left them financially? They had a lot of mouths to feed. Legend has it that when they arrived back in Britain the family only had about £200 - and don't forget, they worked their passage back to Britain. Barry has even said himself that he only had £2/10s ( £2.50 in today's money) to his name when they arrived back here.
