Does anyone else realize that this Saturday ( the 7th ) will be the 25th anniversary of "Saturday Night Fever" coming out? I don't watch too much TV, but so far as I can tell, there's not much being done to "celebrate". I know a bunch of things were done in '97, but I always thought a 25th anniversary was more significant than a 20th. Comments anyone? For those of you who caught the Bee Gees story on PBS, what did you think? The "b-roll" was great ... lots of pictures and clips I haven't seen before. But the writing, as hard as they tried, well, you can't squeeze a 35 plus-year career into ( at most ) 45 minutes. The producers totally blew off "SP", the falling out with Stigwood, and several other things. A friend ( who is not the big fan I am ) said maybe they wanted to focus on the positive things. But you need the bad to understand the good, right? As a trained producer myself, I find the lack of mentioning several subjects apalling. Someone in the documentary also said ( it was not one of the brothers ) that "I think part of Barry died when Andy died." DUH! I don't even have the honor of knowing the brothers personally and I KNOW they were devastated by Andy's death. According to my notes, Barry said something like this in the 'Behind the Music' about Andy a few years back ... "The last thing that happened between me and Andy was an argument, which is devastating to me because I have to live with it all of my life. And that was a phone call between he and me and I said "you really have to react, this is no good..." Instead of being gentle about it I was angry, because someone else had said to me at some point that tough love is the answer. For me it wasn't because it was the last conversation we had. So that's my regret, that's what I live with." I'm no shrink, but the look in Barry's eyes as he said that, says it all. Those sad memories spread through the family ... Maurice's last memory of Andy and one of their mum's isn't pleasant either. Oh by the way, Chris Mathis ... it is great to see that you are alive and kicking. What's your opinion on that wild and crazy idea I sent you weeks ago? Janel ( who realizes more every day why Hugh Gibb wanted to move to Australia as she trudges through the snow and cold of Pennsylvania ) "I believe in you. You know the door to my very soul. You're the light in my deepest darkest hour. You're my saviour when I fall." -- from the Bee Gees' smash hit 'How Deep is Your Love' _________________________________________________________________ The new MSN 8: advanced junk mail protection and 2 months FREE* http://join.msn.com/?page=features/junkmail ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 5 Dec 2002 21:37:40 EST From: BevSully@aol.com Subject: Re: Calendars --part1_12c.1cd754f0.2b216774_boundary Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit In a message dated 12/5/02 5:56:36 AM Eastern Standard Time, ListMember@brothersgibb.com writes: > Hi Frankie: Your daughter did a great job!!!
