Hi everyone, Has anyone else heard the rumour that the "boys" on the Popstars The Rivals are to release a Bee Gees cover as the first single to go head to head for the Christmas number one single against the girls?! I don't know how true this is, or what song it is?! Anyone know?! Paul __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Mail Plus – Powerful. Affordable. You can read about it here. = http://www.geocities.com/bazsangel2002/latimes.html =20 It's hard to say they aren't starting to get a lot of respect in the US = when you know what happened in Los Angeles last summer. It was a 2 day = non-stop concert featuring some of the biggest names in music, both old = and new. Ricky Martin, Backstreet Boys, Aerosmith, Nelly Furtado, Wayne = Newton, Btittany Spears, etc., etc. NOBODY got more than 30 minutes, = including Aerosmith, EXCEPT the Bee Gees. They were assigned 50 minutes = (almost twice as long as anyone else), but told they could go as long as = they wanted, and given the closing spot for that purpose. The promoters = obviously knew what they were capable of. The boys didn't take = advantage of the overtime offer, but stuck to about 50 minutes. Notice = too that Barry got a far bigger picture in the L.A. Times than anyone = else. When Aerosmith finished their set fairly late on Sunday's program = and with only a few minor acts left before the Bee Gees, Steven Tyler = walked back out onstage and told the audience "The best is yet to come" = refering to the Bee Gees. Think too of American TV. No musical act gets shown on American TV as = much as the Bee Gees in the last few years. Not only does PBS = frequently play their One Night Only Vegas concert, but the Family = Channel plays the Sydney one. The Biography channel had them on for = about 12 out of 24 hours recently. Their format is to recycle the same = shows during any given day, and they played the TIWICI bio, then ONO = Vegas (or maybe the other way around), and then something else other = than the boys, then cycled it over again twice. Ovation carried an = alternate version of Keppel Road with a different title, but essentially = the same show, but with Barbara Striesand shown singing with Barry. = HBO, etc., frequently carried ONO in the years after it first aired on = Pay per View. I think a major part of why things seem to be the way they are now is = their own lack of drive in touring and capitalizing on what I think = America is ready for (whether America knows it or not). America IS = ready for another major round of Bee Gees (just look at what style of = music is popular right now). I think the boys are keeping it from = happening, or a lack of a brave promoter. I think they could fill = monster stadiums, have major stars guest star with them, etc. They just = aren't choosing to capitalize the way they could. Of course, their = $1,000,000 price tag per concert (triple what Elton John gets) probably = scares off a lot of promoters. The stigma of having participated in one of the worst movies ever (according to polls, not to me), but Spirits sold beautifully. 2. Value/loss to Robert Stigwood: According to other posts, millions. 3. Value to me getting to see the men looking their very best in very tight clothes acting to the best of their ability despite likely being told not to, and, as Pat and others have said, hearing Robin do the best ever rendition of Oh Darling: Priceless Oddly enough when I saw it at 15, I didn't recognize it for the failure it was. I was truly disappointed that they didn't speak, though. I remember that feeling. But even now I could sit down and pop it in just to see them in their prime (yes, to me it was their prime). I have an indelible way to always see them that way thanks to that movie. And it still makes me laugh !! I > guess I was wondering who's in charge of this one? >=20 > Thanks for getting back to me. > Bev Guess there's no immediate connection to Robin other than Robin or his management has arranged with QGR8 to do the site. The pictures and links aren't visible/correct at the guestbook page at all. It is bad practice to put up a professional website without making sure everything is functioning properly. You should always allow time in the production work to search out bugs and fix them. Strangely enough the robingibb.com address still not points to the robingibb.co.uk address. Why QGR8 has made it in a program like Corel Photo-Paint instead of more common webdesign programmes like Dreamweaver or GoLive is beyond me. This could be a fast-produced temporary solution due to increasing numbers of postings on the Bee Gees Bulletin Board that are repeatedly being delete= d by the administrator but in that case I would like to see at least a bulletin board on the Robin Gibb site too. That way the Robin/Bee Gees-fans can really start having a ball discussing the new album. Why is it that they feel the need to delete any info on Robin's album. It can't be that it still is a secret since the forthcoming single is getting airplay already, even internationally since SWR3 is broadcasting online. Is it because it's being released on another label other than Universal? In that case any postings about pre-1967 songs would be deleted as well as any postings about their production work they have done for other artists like Streisand, Diana, Dionne and Kenny would be frowned upon as well.
