To Doug Wilson, who wrote... > It appears that Robin was signed to > Warner-Tamerlane for publishing Yeah, Warner-Tamberlane, always sounded like a lumber company to me. I always preferred Robin Gibb Publishing, at least that way you knew who you were dealing with. Although, in the Bee Gees Complete Volume Two songbook, Robin Gibb Publishing is variously linked with Frontwheel music, and later on with Flam Music Ltd. Back when those other two Gibbs were with Abigail Music, administered by Casserole which was administered by Unichappel. Or some such thing. Now it's all Gibb Brothers, even the old Robin Gibb Publishing stuff. Doug continues... > Barry and Mo > still appeared to be > with Stigwood's publishing entity (Casserole). Yeah, I think they just got tired of keeping track of it all. Of course, these days, they write things with non-Gibbs, so they started keeping track of it all again. Apparently no contractual agreement could bring Robin and Maurice to take any credit for "Voice in the Wilderness..." I still wonder how one goes about getting a songwriting demo from Gibb Publishing. I mean, what good is a music publisher that won't front you a demo to cover?? If they want my theorertically planned tribute album, "David Garcia Sings and Plays Fourteen Barry Gibb Songs" to ever see the light of day, at least SOME cooperation will be required... Doug Wilson also wrote... > (not wanting to offend anyone with a snappy tagline) That's MISTER Anyone-With-a-Snappy-Tagline to you... ;-) David Garcia, always compelled to come along with a snappy tagline, such as this one, in Staten Island, NY garcia10303@yahoo.com __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? There are at least two of us out here who think "Voice In The Wilderness" is one of the stronger tracks on that album. Where I come from, that's a majority . . . and if you can't go along with the majority opinion, then just keep your thoughts to yourself, sir. Furthermore, if you keep this up, I'm going to complain to Chris and see what can be done about you. No more MISTER Nice Guy for me. With regard to... > Kay who will personally track down and slap Chris > back into reality if he suddenly starts singing > It's A Small World Ah, a Disney tune! Singing Barney songs is a capital offense in this house, but as for It's A Small World, it's one of the relatively few non-Gibb songs I've ever parodied: It's a cruel world after all, It's a cruel world after all, It's a cruel world after all, What a cruel, cruel world! It's a world of sadness, of pain and tears. Just a burden of sorrow Throughout the years. And you cry, every day, As you suffer away, It's a cruel world after all. It's a cruel world... Mind you all, since I think some earlier comments of mine might have been misinterpeted, I am not trying to compare the brothers ... I am just trying to point out how they compliment each other nicely ( and handsomely too ). The fact that some would suggest Maurice has only gotten as far as he has because of who is brothers are, doesn't jive. Want proof? Stigwood said this about Maurice in a "Disc and Record" magazine article in 1968!!!!! Remember, Maurice was 18 most of that year!!!!!! "Maurice Gibb is the boy people tend to put in the background and yet his contribution is enormous because he is the arranging brain and the multi-instrumentalist of the group. Although his singing is usually restricted to singing harmonies on the choruses, in the studios his part is enormous. He plays bass, piano, organ, mellotron, rhythm guitar and is now lead guitarist. Added to all this, his rapport with the two other brothers Gibb is incredible too. The way he can translate the songs they've written into the right field for recording amazes me. It's because of this that the other two can come into a recording studio and write a song and then Maurice will instantly arrange it for immediate recording." ( since that comment was published, you can add at least drums and keyboard to the list of instruments Maurice plays ... Even if there was never a Bee Gees, I think we would have heard from the brothers in some form or another, whether it be as solo artists or producers or something in the music industry ) The brothers also, for the most part, know when something they're doing isn't working. Like Maurice's comments on his "ANTICLIMATIC" attempt at going solo. Or the 1998 tour during "Lonely Days", at the concert I saw ... Robin steps away from his microphone and yields the floor to his brother Maurice who shines at playing the keyboard. Janel ( whose favorite BG is obviously Maurice, but appreciates Robin and Barry just as much for all their talent and charm ) ( Maggie ... if you and everyone else on the list can read this, you are the computer queen ... thanks for your help! ) "You are the reason for my laughter and my sorrow. Blow out the candle I will burn again tomorrow." -- from the Bee Gees 1979 smash hit and last American number one to date, 'Love You Inside Out' _________________________________________________________________ Surf the Web without missing calls! Get MSN Broadband. http://resourcecenter.msn.com/access/plans/freeactivation.asp ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 22 Oct 2002 20:44:45 EDT From: BACG143@aol.com Subject: RE: A single response to David Doug wrote: <> Make that 3 of us Doug!!!
