It appeared to be exactly the same lineup he used for The Leisurely Tour: Charlotte McKinnon - Background Vocals Beth Cohen - Background Vocals Leesa Richards - Background Vocals Doug Emery - Keys Ben Stivers - Keys (Anyone besides me wondering what was up with his "Alfalfa" hair? Please disregard this comment if you're under the age of 50 and / or have no recollection of the original "Little Rascals".) It's hard to argue with Number 1 on Itunes and Amazon, but I don't care, > I will. "Grand Illusion" is still growing on me. I suspect I'll eventually get there, but it was my least favorite of the four songs that were performed from the album. As someone (Sal, I believe) pointed out, it is somewhat reminiscent of "Smoke and Mirrors", which is okay, I guess, but... > It was fun hearing Barry talk about his awkwardness speaking to other > famous people. He probably understands fans doing the same when they > meet him. "Why did I say that?" Yes that is how it goes. One thing I got out of that little confession that I was pleased to hear is that he is a fan of Alison Krauss. For my money, she may be the best vocalist working today. > > Damn, "Home Truth Song" is really good. I know this is a Jersey boy liking the > Springsteen style to it, but, come on. It's good. Not a Jersey boy myself, but I concur on "Home Truth Song". I really liked it when I heard it on the live stream from Miami 100. Liked it even more upon hearing it again on Saturday night. While I like "In The Now" quite a bit, now, I think "Home Truth Song" would've been the first song that I would've been pushing, were I Sony / Columbia. However, they have yet to consult with me, even though my services are relatively inexpensive. Okay, here's my confession, I really liked Star Crossed Lovers. I'll acknowledge that from a songwriting perspective, it didn't sound like much of a stretch for him. But the thing that made the song for me was the acoustic lead guitar work, which as far as I could discern was Dan Warner on the 12-string. It wasn't flashy, but it provided a nice change-up from the expected keyboard or electric guitar lead. Doug (who wishes the live performances of HDIYL still included the harmonizing "Ahh"s in the intro. The Sweet Inspirations provided that on the '79 tour (which was 38 years ago, by my count, 22 years ago by Sal's) so I would assume that the current trio could handle it) Back to top
