Robin makes a new album he gets criticised.....Barry writes a new al= bum with Barbra he gets criticised and put down too. What is it you all want from them both......anything or nothing?? The Bee Gees are no more folk,= so be grateful we get anything from Barry and Robin at all whether it be together or apart. How about we try a bit of the "positive" for them bot= h and less of the negative.=0D =0D Ann=0D NZ (who is just very grateful to hear anything the guys want to give us w= ithout putting them down for their efforts) ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 23 Sep 2005 21:28:44 EDT From: HTS17@aol.com Subject: Re: IMHO Yes thank you ! "Guilty Too" is merely the fair side of middling! ---> I'm sorry, for me personally, Guilty Pleasures is better, and that came as a very big surprise. I listened to the whole album on AOL today, and I have to admit there is not one weak song on the album. Au contraire, how can a collection consisting of marvellous songs like Hideaway, Golden Dawn, All the Children, Night Of My Life, It's Up To You and the close-to-perfect Above the Law be anything else than amazing? Of course Guilty was a masterpiece, but Never Give Up, What Kind of Fool and The Love Inside never quite appealed to me. And Without Your Love, Come Tomorrow and Stranger in a Strange Land do the trick for me. It is a very mixed bag, altogether! And like has been stressed before: beautifully produced, with magnificent Barry's backing vocals and top instrumentalists, missing from the last string of Bee Gees albums. >but bear in mind that I've played "Guilty Too" more in this past week >than I've played "Magnet" since it came out, and you'll start to get a grasp >of where I'm at! ---> I think we all can agree Magnet isn't the kind of work you'd like a great songwriter and singer like Robin to release. I only listened to it once... >These two really need to see that to come up with really great product, they >need each other! One of them knows it and wants it - the other doesn't want >to know! ---> I am not convinced. Barry delivered a very high quality product, together with his sons. They seem to form a very good team. It is unfair to say the sons didn't contribute much, I suspect their input is a lot bigger than expected and they inspired Barry in a tremendous way. Why would he want to give up that team now? I cannot even begin to describe what great a song All the Children is, and yes, it is written without Robin. To me, it doesn't matter. I just don't think Barry'd want to get back together with someone "stealing" all his leads, wanting to make some statement about, how much he was responsible for all the Bee Gees repertoire. Yes they shared a lifetime together of composing and performing great songs. But TIWICI already proved, the chemistry was gone, and they'd become main stream pop veterans. And then Barry comes up with an inspired album (and a succesful one) and then he should suddenly get back with Robin -- without one good reason, other than, that is what the fans would like? I see more good music in the making, coming from Barry and his sons, and I that's very much alright by me... -- Juan ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 23 Sep 2005 22:29:31 EDT From: LAgerg@aol.com Subject: Re: It's not raining on my Barbra parade... ;) I don't put much stock in critic's reviews-I know what I like and I love GP. Even if you did put stock in critics' reviews--most of them are very positive for this album. Barbra's fans overwhelmingly love this album. Each individual loves different songs. As far as that critic saying Barry's voice is gone on the duet 'Above the Law", I would have to disagree- it is one of my favorites on the album and I think hisvocal delivery is great for the song. Variety is the spice of life and this album has a lot of variety. I think it will do very well and all signs point to a number 1 debut on the Billboard album charts- if that kind of thing is important to you. All I know is that my father died a week ago at the age of 67 after a 9 year battle with Alzheimers Disease and this album has gone a long way to pull me out of my initial overwhelming sadness. Thank you Barry -you hardly ever disappoint me! ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 23 Sep 2005 23:36:07 -0500 (GMT-05:00) From: Vivian Subject: Re: It's not raining on my Barbra parade... ;) You have my sympathies..I lost my paternal grandmother in 02 and she had Alzheimers and Parkinsons and the latter is what killed her. My Dad's father also died from the disease but he was in his eighties. We can only hope for a cure soon as more and more people will suffer. ------------------------------ End words@brothersgibb.com Digest [09/24/2005 03:01] ----------------------------------------------------
