Many of us who were sitting in the rafters @ $300 per seat and had flown, or driven, thousands of miles to be there specifically for this concert were highly upset about the free tickets being given away (for much better seats) to casino patrons (most of whom probably didn't know or like the Bee Gees). That didn't sit well with many and likely contributed to the low energy at that show. If memory serves, traditionally the hotels give out complimentary tickets as premiums to their VIP guests. As a result, many of the floor seats remained quite empty... with blocks of seats open. This proved to be quite a quandary since they were filming the event for posterity and needed the appearance of a full house. What I heard happened IS that they went out into the MGM Grand Casino and gave away tickets/recruited people to fill in the empty spots. That's why the concert started late and the crowd was not perceived on camera as enthusiastic... Much to the chagrin of all of us that paid big $$$ for our tickets and were rockin' it out in our sections. Bette, putting her reporter hat on and quickly taking it off. Back to top
