I couldn't agree with you anymore. Its actually sad. Even more sad to think of where or "how" society will be in 10 or 15 years. To be honest I could really care less but I have three children all under 8 and it makes m Danny -------------------------------------------- On Sun, 5/4/14, Bill Busch (M) wrote: Subject: [words] Do you know "Linda Gibb" To: "words List Member" Date: Sunday, May 4, 2014, 1:58 PM =20 I don't get the whole "I have to friend a celebrity who will never speak to me" thing. What do they do? Walk around at parties saying, "Oh yea I'm friends with Linda Gibb on Facebook. Who are you friends with?" Society has really taken an indescribable downturns since the social media explosion. =20 Bill =20 > -----Original Message----- > From: words@brothersgibb.com [mailto:words@brothersgibb.com] On > Behalf Of Chris Mathis > Sent: Sunday, May 04, 2014 9:15 AM > To: words List Member > Subject: [words] Do you know "Linda Gibb" >=20 > I received a Facebook notification, (I do not use Facebook, but still have > an account so I can monitor my 10=A0 year old son) asking' >=20 >=20 >=20 > Do you know "Linda Gibb", "Someone Else" or "Someone Else" etc, etc. >=20 >=20 >=20 > Now Linda not talk much, ok, we have never talked, and she does not even > know I exist, and really has no reason to. Another stake > inthe heart of this set.* *The MP3 download (Amazon) is 5:30 instead of the original nominally 5:47. That is a big difference.=C2=A0 Do we know that it just fades sooner?=C2=A0 Or should one of us drop a buck on the MP to check for an alternate mix?* So, someone has to spend a buck twenty nine on iTunes to solve this, do they? Well, consider it solved. I, for one, had to know what was done to this song. It=E2=80=99s been one of my personal favorites for over a quarter of a century (a new song, in other words), and, to be perfectly blunt, slicing fifteen seconds off this tune may turn out to be one of the most creative things Barry has done in recent memory. So=E2=80=A6 I just had to hear it for myself. First of all, yes, the drums are still there. Well, we assume the drum intro consists of drums. Could be a Chevy Nova with a faulty transmission or something. Or a washer with pillows and sneakers unbalancing the load. Either way. It=E2=80=99s still there. And the first verse is the same, the chorus is the same, and the second verse is the same. But what happens then? My lord, what happens then=E2=80=A6 (Oh, you people do know I write parodies, right? As in, making dumb things up to achieve a humorous effect? Okay, just wanted to make sure=E2=80=A6) Well, you remember that part where Robin goes =E2=80=9Cnobody cries for the way I feel,=E2=80=9D =E2=80=93 which is true, generally speaking, people do not go around crying for the way you feel. I felt rather bilious the other day, due to a Chinese restaurant assuming that Egg Foo Young is carnival food. But no one cried for the way I felt. Certainly not the cooks at the Peking Garden. But I digress. After Robin sings that, you recall that we then have Barry playing with a vocoder. Or, more acurrately, Barry humming some random melody into a mic while qualified personnel play with a vocoder.=C2=A0 And I remember when that came out, I thought that was SO COOL! And wanted to know how he does that, and where can I, a budget conscious man with a maxed out credit card, get such a thing? Never did solve that one, but I can see that Barry thought it was at least as cool as I did. Because now=E2=80=A6 (Parody, remember? Ok, just making sure) Barry takes this to the next level. Now you have harmony vocoder, falsetto vocoder, even harmonic digitally enhanced bagpipe vocoder! It=E2=80=99s Cinco de Mayo for the vocodor industry, and takes up three times the amount of mp3 that his little eight bars of buzz buzz did previously. My heavens, who would have thought it? But, oh, did I mention that the song was shorter? Well, yes, it was. And I can see that Barry shares my sense of humor here. Knowing that the only people left on the planet to download this song were crazed die-hard fans such as myself, the sort who usually end up with restraining orders being served on them sooner or later, well, he had some fun with us. He didn=E2=80=99t cut out anything at all. He just sped it up. Gradually at first, not enough that you=E2=80=99d notice. Then he starts revving up the tempo, then changing the pitch, then kicking in the echo chamber =E2=80=93 if you are familiar with the old classic =E2=80=9CThey=E2=80=99re Coming to Take Me Away, Ha Ha,=E2=80=9D then you know what I=E2=80=99m talking about here. And then it ends with a vault door slamming shut, echoing loudly. And Barry muttering=E2=80=A6 =E2=80=9Cthat ought to hold them.=E2=80=9D I don=E2=80=99t know about you, but as for me, I=E2=80=99m making this one my new ringtone!
