My copy is still slowly making its way here, but, based on the excerpts I've seen, it does in fact promise to be a quick read. Looking at the 2 strongly positive reviews of the book on Amazon, I find myself half-believing the reviewers must be students of Meyer's at the New School. (This speculation is based on nothing beyond a jaundiced view of things, by the way.) Looking at the 1 negative view, I wonder if it might also be a student, but one who got a bad grade. I was interested to read/hear Barry's comment in one of the recent interviews that he was retrofitting his studio to accommodate analog tape. Is that the sort of things people are doing these days (coincident with a renewed interest in vinyl on the part of some)? I guess the benefit would be a warmer sound and other things that a philistine like me probably wouldn't pick up on? Hi, I have been seeing ebay and Amazon listing for a blu ray version of ONO. Does anyone know if this is a legitimate listing? Does anyone know if they "remastered" the picture and/or sound? Not sure how interested I am unless they have improved either the sound or the picture. If they have bumped up the sound to blu ray quality, it would be the first time any Bee Gee music, except for the Fever blu ray, has been heard in more than cd quality given that none of their albums have been remastered/released in any high definition format that I can find in Amazon or I-Tunes or Rhino, etc... That was certainly one thing that they could have done when they did the reissues, either release a dvd audio or somesuch or a high definition download. That would have been absolutely wonderful to hear the music in such clarity. I am sorry but no mp3, not matter how high the bitrate, is going to rival high def. I wonder where you can get any legitimate high def. downloads of anything as Amazon and I-tunes don't seem to have the format. Mayers is a respected academic and music writer who would=20 be foolish to risk his reputation by not checking his sources and=20 information. Just because someone writes with information from=20 anonymous sources does not mean the information cannot or has not been=20 corroborated.
