Nothing was coming to my Yahoo! account. I just attributed this to the relative inactivity in the Gibb camp these days, until I got the following email from Chris: <> After several unsuccessful attempts on my part to re-subscribe to the list using my Yahoo! account, I finally gave up and set up a new account with Google, which seems to be working ok. Anyway, I don't know Robert any more so than the rest of you, but based on my recent experiences, I have to wonder if his, or anyone else's, sudden silence is not the result of a blocked IP address, or similar such crack-down at a corporate level. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 1 May 2008 10:14:48 EDT From: CAPT1SEPT@aol.com Subject: Robin On The Reissues For those who don't receive Robin's newsletter, this is what he had to say about the reissues: "A lot of fans have questions about the further rollout of the Bee Gees re-issues. I was told that they are going through some personnel changes at the record company and that there is no final decision on the exact release date, but that Odessa will come out in 2008, possibly on 3 discs." So, the record company is going through some personnel changes but the que stion is which record label? Rhino? Reprise? Warners overall? Or could it mean that Andrew Sandoval is off the project and they're having to find someone new to oversee the reissues? At least "Odessa" is still slated for a 2008 release but is there second thoughts about the expanded version consisting of three discs? Peace, Frank **************Need a new ride? It is the entire Warner Music Group but as far as I know Sandoval is still on board. They have cut the fat from all labels and Bee Gees isn't the only act/project that has been affected scheduling-wise. /Ronnie Laugh at life like a sideshow Just what you need to make you feel better http://www.brothersgibb.com Bee Gees News and Information ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 1 May 2008 16:26:43 +0100 From: "Maggie Bleksley" Subject: Re: Robert Stigwood's silence I received a message that I'd been unsubscribed, too, but I simply reregistered in the usual way and there was no problem - except that I now appear to be getting twice as many multiple emails from 'Words'! Joe Brennan -Billboard: Warner Music Group To Restructure, Layoff 400 May 07, 2007 By Ed Christman, N.Y. Warner Music Group is planning a restructuring that will include company-wide layoffs totaling 400 staffers and place further emphasis on digital strategy and distribution, sources say. The company plans to simultaneously invest in new initiatives, including more hires for WMG's growing digital operations. Sources indicate the layoffs will be staggered, rather than all coming down at once. Warner Music Group Layoffs Continue At Rhino May 22, 2007 By Ed Christman, N.Y. As part of the 400-person restructuring at the Warner Music Group, first reported here May 7, Rhino Records let go about 15 staffers, a Rhino Records spokeswoman confirmed. Among those laid off were VP/creative director Hugh Brown, sources say. Sources say that the layoffs are going down in stages with at least one of the departing staffers expected to stay on for a few more weeks. Warner Music Posts $16 Million Loss February 06, 2008 By Ed Christman, N.Y. The Warner Music Group lost $16 million, or 11 cents per diluted share, on sales of $989 million in its fiscal first quarter ended Dec. 31, 2007, due to an $18 million write-off for shutting down its Bulldog Entertainment concert promotion company. ... Within the recorded music segment, WMG managed to post a 10.5% increase in domestic revenue to $400 million, even though album sales dropped 14.6% last year, according to Nielsen SoundScan. International sales, meanwhile, increased 2.7% to $450 million. The company attributed the domestic increase to its Warner Bros. Records and Atlantic Records labels capturing the No. 1 and No.2 rankings in U.S. market share and to a strong showing in digital revenue. For the quarter digital revenue totaled $141 million, or 14% of total revenue. ... "We were the only major music company to increase U.S. physical plus digital album equivalent unit sales in 2007, rising 1% versus the industry's decline of 9.5%," if track equivalent albums are taken into account, according to Bronfman. ... In publishing, he noted that Warner Chappell is moving to reinvigorate its synchronization business, and was rewarded with eight Super Bowl Ads that featured music from that company and Rhino. For the quarter the company generated $129 million in earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization, as compared with $140 million garnered last year in its first fiscal quarter. In looking at the company's balance sheet, the company has a negative net worth of $47 million, while long-term debt totals $2.25 billion. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 1 May 2008 17:23:55 +0100 From: "Maggie Bleksley" Subject: Re: Robert Stigwood OK, Bill, you win again! Hi Zulema, We’re only a little over a week away from the Bee Gees blue plaque ceremony in Westminster! I’m working hard on the event’s programme and media coverage, and am really looking forward to the big day! If you are in London, make sure to tune in to Capital Gold Radio next week. They are our media partners for the May 10th event and I just taped trailers and interviews for them. They are also going to give away tickets for the charity lunch at the Grosvenor House at which I plan singing a few songs. The unveiling ceremony itself is free; so if you can’t make it to the lunch, please do try joining me at noon at 67 Brook Street. It would be great having all my fans there with me for the special occasion! A lot of fans have questions about the further rollout of the Bee Gees re-issues. I was told that they are going through some personnel changes at the record company and that there is no final decision on the exact release date, but that Odessa will come out in 2008, possibly on 3 discs. I spent most of the past month working in the studio and will update you on that soon. A few weeks ago, I did an on-camera interview for a UK government campaign on fatherhood that will launch in May, and tomorrow May 1st I’m going to be interviewed for BBC News about the Bomber Command campaign. On May 22nd, I will be at the Ivors to present the award for Best selling British single. On a personal note, Dwina and I just sold our home on North Bay Road and are moving into a nice Mediterranean style house near Coral Gables which we baptised Oak Manor. After the May 10 ceremony I’ll update you on a song I recorded last year in memory of the late DJ Alan Freeman.
