(#2008-4212) - Topics this issue: 1) Lead Vocals on Daytime Girl, ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Fri, 25 Apr 2008 09:17:59 -0400 From: Joseph Brennan Subject: Re: Lead Vocals on Daytime Girl My ears say Maurice alone on first verse and then Robin and Maurice. The strongest evidence to me is that the singer of verse 1 "disappears" as soon as Robin comes in, which is unlike Barry but what we'd expect for harmony singer Maurice. Also it's suggestive how the singer slides in quietly on the first word, because Barry typically bursts in on his first word in other songs. The smooth entrance is how a harmony singer comes in. But I admit it's far from certain. Maurice's comment makes me wonder sometimes whether it's Maurice and Barry together on verse 1, even though it sounds like one voice. Check "Kitty Can" which is stated to be Maurice and Barry on the LP sleeve. It seems to be both of them together on the whole song.
